Lemington Riverside Primary School

A milestone moment for LRPS: France 2025

Monday will be a very special day for Lemington Riverside as we embark on our first ever international residential visit!
We were successful in applying for the Turing Grant which means we have been able to offer a fully-funded 5-day residential to the city of Nancy in France for all of our Year 6 children.
We will be travelling to France by train, firstly from Newcastle to London, before getting the Eurostar through the Channel Tunnel to Paris. We will have a tour of Paris, visiting the Eiffel Tower, before taking another train to Nancy.
Nancy is a twin city of Newcastle upon Tyne and we have formed a school partnership with Boudonville Primary School in the city. We will be spending time at the school as well as exploring the city over the week.
We will be officially welcomed to the city on Tuesday morning by the Mayor of Nancy at the City Hall. Later on Tuesday we will spend time in the French school with our pen friends, before enjoying their summer fair in the evening - we even have a special dance ready to perform! We have got lots of gifts for our partner school in France from the North East, including a huge poster of Dan Burn lifting the Carabao Cup!
On Wednesday we will be visiting a chocolate factory in Nancy and visiting the city museum.
On Thursday we will link back up again with our friends from Boudonville Primary School at the University of Lorraine where we will be taking part in an art workshop with students from the University.
We will travel home on Friday, arriving back in to Lemington at around 8:20pm.
We will share updates from our adventure over the week!
Bon voyage Year 6!
