Geography
At Lemington Riverside Primary School, Geography is all about helping children make sense of the world around them—starting with our own local area and extending out to global issues. We aim to spark curiosity, build responsibility, and encourage children to see themselves as active global citizens.
Through engaging lessons and fieldwork, pupils learn to:
-
Use maps, globes, and digital tools to locate places and features.
-
Understand what makes different places unique and compare them to our own.
-
Explore how natural processes (like rivers, mountains, and climate) and human activity (like trade, settlement, and resource use) shape the world.
-
Investigate questions using data, fieldwork, and enquiry skills, presenting their findings clearly.
Our Lemington Values underpin Geography too:
-
We are Lemington – starting with pride in our local area and heritage.
-
We are ambitious – asking challenging questions and analysing real-world data.
-
We are global – recognising our role in tackling worldwide issues like climate change.
-
We are disciplined – developing accuracy and reliability in enquiry and fieldwork.
-
We are collaborative – working in teams to share ideas and make sense of geographical challenges.
-
We are resilient – persevering when data is tricky or global issues feel complex.
By the time children leave Lemington Riverside, they are confident, reflective geographers—equipped with the skills and knowledge to understand their community, their country, and the wider world, ready to meet the environmental and social challenges of the future.
